About the Widget. FlagCounter counts the number of visitor and views of your site once you install their non-java HTML code in your WordPress.com blog. FlagCounter categories your visitors by country, and state or province in the case of the United States of America and Canada. When you access your account at FlagCounter, you can look up for your visitor information in countries listings, maps and charts. Beside emphasizing on your visitors’ flags, you can view charts with the total visitors and views.

What Will Your Readers See on Your Website? FlagCounter gives three options to show your readers: a Top Countries counter, a Flag Map counter and a Mini Counter. You can customize the counters size, format, colors and information shown. The Mini Counter provides the smallest and inconspicuous counter. I use the Top Countries counter with Life & Bits.
How Do I Install This Widget on WordPress.com? Installing the Histats Counter widget on your site is simple. First, get the HTML code from their site. Second, install the code on your blog. And, you are done. Please follow the instructions below.
Obtaining the Widget’s HTML Code
Visit FlagCounter website. Select the counter type you want to install in your blog. Customize the counter. You can see the options for the three counters below.
Flag Counter - Top Countries. (1) Select the number of flag that will show in the counter. Select the number of columns in the counter. (2) Choose your counter colors. (3) Select any additional information you want in your counter. After you complete customizing your counter, click the GET YOUR FLAG COUNTER button.
Flag Counter - Flag Map. (1) Select your map size. (2) Select your counter label. (3) Select your counter colors. (4) Check the box if your want the page views to show. (5) Click the GET YOUR FLAG COUNTER button.
Flag Counter - Mini Counter. (1) Select the information shown in your counter. (2) Select the counter colors. (3) Click the GET YOUR FLAG COUNTER button.
Once you customize your counter, your will be asked to register with FlagCounter. Registering will allow you to change your counter in the future. However, it is not required to register to get your HTML code.
Flag Counter - Register. Either skip registration or register with FlagCounter. Registration is optional but will facilitate counter modification in the future.
The last step is to copy the HTML code provided. FlagCounter offers to quickly post the code in your site. However that requires disclosing your username and password. I prefer to install the HTML code myself.
